THAT'S THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT IN GAZA...

With apologies to Reba McEntire:

That's the night that the lights went out in Gaza
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Well don't trust your soul to no Islamist imam
Cause the leaders in the town's got bloodstains on their hands

Anyhow, the AP is reporting that Electricity is latest Gaza battleground

Hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents were forced to make do without
electricity Monday as the coastal strip's power supply became the latest victim
of feuding between Gaza's Hamas rulers and their Fatah rivals.

European donors stopped paying key electricity aid over the weekend,
concerned that Hamas is siphoning off revenues.

But if Europe was really all that concerned about where their money was going, wouldn't you think that the funding that is going to supporting the UNRWA camps would have dried up years ago? Maybe the answer is that the EU is not really all that serious:

"We are ready to resume our support to the Gaza power plant within hours once we
receive the appropriate assurances that all the funds will be exclusively used
for the benefit of the Gaza population," the European Commission — the EU's
executive branch — said in a statement.
If all it takes is 'appropriate assurances' from a terrorist group that they are not diverting funds towards destroying Israel, then how much more meaningful is this than Olmert's asking for assurances from freed terrorists that they will not go back to attacking Israel?

UPDATE: But never fear--US ally Egypt will be providing power to make up the shortfall. They were also supposed to be helping Abbas against Hamas as well.
